Welcome to D&W, where we are on a mission to reshape the future of food production. We were founded with a vision of a more sustainable, accessible and innovative food industry. We specialize in developing groundbreaking process applications and manufacturing advanced process equipment for the processing of liquid foods.

D&W strives for a world in which everyone has access to fair, sustainably produced and safe food. With our smartly designed process equipment we accelerate food innovation and improve production. Our products, developed in collaboration with customers and our Greengineers, are flexibly configurable, integrally hygienically designed and built for maximum impact. Together we strive to change the future of food and ensure its accessibility and sustainability for future generations.

Innovating with Purpose:

Our journey began with a commitment to making a difference. At D&W, we believe that everyone deserves access to safe, sustainably produced, and fair food. This belief fuels our passion for sustainable innovation, driving us to design clever and flexible processing applications that elevate liquid food products to new heights.

Integrated Excellence:

What sets us apart is our integrated approach. Nestled under one roof are our ‘greengineers’ who blend engineering brilliance with manufacturing insights. This fusion of expertise allows us to seamlessly integrate manufacturing knowledge into the engineering process. Early-stage prototyping and rigorous testing further ensure risk mitigation and concept refinement, delivering solutions that epitomize efficiency and effectiveness.

Empowering Your Vision:

We’re not just creators; we’re collaborators. D&W operates with a client-centric ethos, considering your business case as the cornerstone of our collaboration. We become an extension of your business during project execution, aligning our solutions with your constraints and aspirations. Your success is our success, and we are dedicated to propelling your vision forward.

Join us at D&W as we co-create the future of food, one innovation at a time. Together, we’re building a world where every drop matters, and where food production meets the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and impact.

History

D&W is rooted in the history of D&W Process Technology B.V., a company founded by Leon van de Donk and Henry Wijdeven. Leon, with a vast experience in feed and food-related companies like DMV Veghel, Friesland Campina Rijkevoort, and APV in Houten, decided to venture on his own after APV relocated its Dutch project organization to Denmark.

From its early days, the company specialized in designing and delivering custom stainless steel processing lines for the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. However, a shift occurred, aligning with Leon’s background and expertise, as the focus gradually shifted towards food processing lines.

In 2013, Leon’s son, Sjoerd van de Donk, joined the company, marking the transition to the second generation. Together, they set their sights on partnering with innovation-driven food production companies. They developed an efficient project process that facilitated the development and scaling of new production processes or products.

This process was complemented by the integration of basic designs at the core of the engineering process, allowing for risk-less implementation of standardized solutions into unique projects while maintaining full customization. These strategies aligned perfectly with the emerging food industries, such as bio-circularity, insect processing, and protein transition.

Today, D&W continues to build upon its rich history and expertise, forging partnerships, and pioneering innovations that shape the future of the food industry.

timeline

2000

Founding of D&W by Leon van de Donk & H. Wijdeven

After +20 years of experience at Friesland Campina and APV, a gap was identified between the strength of a large multinational and the need for flexibility within production systems of food-producing SMEs.
2003

Aquisition of 100% share by Leon

Leon takes over all shares in D&W from Henry and continues on his own. Further specialization in liquid process installations for the food processing industry follows. Close to Leon’s roots.

2008

Founding and participation HDN

One of the major challenges in establishing a new and young installation building company for the food processing industry appears to be demonstrating the significant difference in quality between specialized companies and installers without specific market knowledge of the food processing industry. In order to map this difference more broadly and clearly, the Metaalunie has established the HDN foundation, partly under the initiative of D&W, with the aim of: clarity in standards and regulations regarding production installations within the food processing industry.

2013

Sjoerd van de Donk enters employment and realization of new construction

After 13 years at the helm of D&W, Leon has been accompanied by his son Sjoerd since 2013. Together they choose to focus even more on serving customers within the food processing industry and in particular companies that are actively involved in innovation within the food industry.

2017

Award for construction of the world’s largest insect production company

This focus is paying off. In 2017, D&W is the party that, together with its end customer, can provide basic engineering, detail engineering, implementation and commissioning for the largest insect production company in the world.

2020

Roll out basic design strategy

In order to better serve companies involved in food innovation, time and energy are invested in modularizing process systems. This way, customization is guaranteed, but engineering follows a more efficient route with smaller risks for our customers.

2021

First HDN certificate

The investment in HDN is starting to pay off. Of the 100 affiliated companies – both installers and production companies – D&W is the first to provide an installation with an independent quality mark whereby both design and implementation have complied with the most current standards.

2023

A new jacket

New times are dawning. Almost 25 years after the founding of our company, the need for more space and a different identity arose. With the introduction of our new corporate identity we show that we are unique, resourceful and connecting. Together with our customers we develop the most progressive process installations. And the construction of those installations? This is now facilitated by a new assembly hall of over 300 m2 with a maximum assembly height of 9 meters. Ready for the future!
